The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
